Sinopse
Cryptography is a method of storing and transmitting data in a particular form so that only those for
whom it is intended can read and process it. Cryptography play important roles in developing of new
security solutions which will be in great demand with the advent of high-speed next-generation communication
systems and networks. Applied Cryptography and Network Security discusses some of the
critical security challenges faced by today's computing world and provides insights to possible mechanisms
to defend against these attacks. In rst chapter, a summary of quantum cryptography and the
work ow of BB84 protocol is introduced. Second chapter focuses on key establishment protocol for
wireless sensor networks. Third chapter presents a comprehensive discussion on the current authentication
and privacy protection schemes for (Wireless mesh networks) WMN. In addition, it proposes a
novel security protocol for node authentication and message con dentiality and an anonymization
scheme for privacy protection of users in WMNs. Fourth chapter presents an overview on anonymous
authentication protocols for vehicular ad hoc networks. In fth chapter, we show that for many security
applications only the rst step is needed: there is no need to accurately map the location measurement
to an accurate global position. Sixth chapter highlights on the security approaches for information-
centric networking. Seventh chapter discusses the importance of security at the link layer and
adversary network model for wireless sensor networks. Ninth chapter highlights on quantum key
management and securing a telecom services using quantum cryptographic mechanisms is presented
in tenth chapter. Notions of chaotic cryptography is reviewed in eleventh chapter. The purpose of
twelfth chapter, however, is not only the presentation of a new chaotic cryptosystem. It tends to point
out a few potential problems which can be expected in cryptosystems of this kind. Thirteenth chapter
