BIOPOLYMER INTERACTIONS

Biopolymers are polymers produced by living organisms; in other words, they are polymeric biomolecules.Since they are polymers, biopolymers contain monomeric units that are covalently bonded toform larger structures. A major de ning di erence between biopolymers and other polymers can befound in their structures. All polymers are made of repetitive units called monomers. The text BiopolymerInteractions focuses on intensive fundamentals of biopolymer. The dispersability of carbon nanotubesin aqueous solutions containing proteins, or nucleic acids has been discussed in rst chapter. Insecond chapter, we simulate the electrophoretic motion of a bio-polymer through a syntheticnanopore in the presence of an external bias voltage by considering the hydrodynamic interactionsbetween the polymer and the uid explicitly. Third chapter deals with polymer directed proteinassemblies. The aim of fourth chapter is to facilitate the start-up of PHA research by providing a summaryof commercially available PHA-accumulating microbial cultures, PHA biosynthetic pathways, andmethods for PHA detection, extraction and analysis. A biomimetic mineralization process for enzymeimmobilization has been proposed in fth chapter. In sixth chapter, we discuss on biopolymer blendsbased on poly (lactic acid). Biopolymer electrolyte based on derivatives of cellulose from kenaf bastber has been described in seventh chapter. The objective of eighth chapter is to characterize sodiumalginate based matrix-type transdermal lms of metoclopramide hydrochloride (MTC) in order toimprove patient compliance to treatment. Ninth chapter focuses on morphological investigation intostarch bio-nanocomposites via synchrotron radiation and di erential scanning calorimetry. Tenthchapter covers the recent developments in the eld of bio based packaging materials. The characterizationof cross-linked porous gelatin carriers and their interaction with corneal endothelium has beendiscussed in eleventh chapter.
