CANE-BASED BIOFUEL AND BIOPRODUCTS

A biofuel is a fuel that is produced through contemporary biological processes, such as agriculture andanaerobic digestion. The text Cane-based Biofuel and Bioproducts provides broad-ranging coverageof sugarcane biology, biotechnological advances, and breakthroughs in production and processingtechniques. Perspectives for a sugar cane-based biore nery have been focused in rst chapter. Secondchapter aims to draw attention to energy cane, presenting the history of its conception, how it isobtained, and some important characteristics that make it prospectively one of the most importantrenewable bioenergy feedstocks for the near future. Third chapter reviews the important informationon the structure and chemical composition of sugarcane biomass, pretreatment of biomass, enzymatichydrolysis of cellulose, conditioning and detoxi cation of hemicellulosic hydrolysate, bioconversionof sugars into ethanol, and distillation of ethanol. Potential for genetic improvement of sugarcane as asource of biomass for biofuels has been discussed in fourth chapter. Fifth chapter discusses the role ofnitrogen fertilizers in sugarcane root biomass under eld conditions. The objective of sixth chapter isto propose changes in the procedures used to mathematically determine the TRS, estimating the caloric value of moist cake and weight of moist cake. The aim of seventh chapter is to contribute to thedevelopment of 2G ethanol production processes by evaluating a biotechnological approach employingthe whole sugarcane lignocellulosic biomass. The purpose of eighth chapter is to provide informationon the potential for residual biomass cultivars of sugarcane cropping system. Ninth chapter investigatesethanol production from free sugar containing juices obtained from some energy crops suchas sugarcane, sugar beet, and sweet sorghum that are the most attractive choice because of theircost-e ectiveness and feasibility to use. Tenth chapter deals with the assessment of sugarcane trash
