EQUALITY BY DESIGN

EQUALITY BY DESIGN

A study of social mobility in Hungary which looks at what happens when a government attempts to create an egalitarian society, introducing positive discrimination in the place of traditional patterns of social mobility. The author has analyzed random samples of the elite classes and the general population, and by carrying out comparisons across pre-socialist, socialist, and post-socialist society, aims to explore the difference between government sponsored discrimination and the practices it replaced.
