    Solid mechanics is the branch of continuum mechanics that studies the behavior of solid materials, especially their motion and deformation under the action of forces, temperature changes, phase changes, and other external or internal agents. Solid mechanics is fundamental for civil, aerospace, nuclear, and mechanical engineering, for geology, and for many branches of physics such as materials science. It has specific applications in many other areas, such as understanding the anatomy of living beings, and the design of dental prostheses and surgical implants. Mechanics of Solids is suitable for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in mechanical, aeronautical, civil and materials engineering. First chapter focuses on electron dynamics in solids and second chapter presents an introduction to mechanics of solids. Third chapter envisages on solid mechanics and fourth chapter gives a framework on advanced solid mechanics. Fifth chapter covers a novel approach to the description of the phenomenon of thermal expansion of solids. In sixth chapter, it has been realized that it is necessary to study the thermodynamic properties of solids and the phase diagrams of the systems in which these solids occur. Because the properties of solids depend significantly on their composition, great attention has been focused on the physicochemical analysis and foundations of the directed synthesis. Static equilibrium force and moment has been presented in seventh chapter. In eighth chapter, we construct relations for the normal and shear stress components at any point within the beam’s cross-section. In ninth chapter, we have conducted highP–Tsynchrotron X-ray and time-of-flight neutron diffraction experiments as well as indentation measurements to study equation of state, constitutive properties, and hardness of nanocrystalline and bulk nickel. Last chapter proposes a simplified way to solve solid mechanic problems in micropolar elasticity using as a starting point the solution found in
