In 1982, Sally Brash won an Oscar for her leading role in the year's best picture, 'No Goodbyes'. The following year, she was tragically killed by a speeding car in front of her daughter, Chassi. Fourteen years later Chassi has followed in her mother's footsteps and become a movie star; a wealthy, famous woman who is also plagued by relentless dizzy spells. Set to reprise her mother's role in 'No Goodbyes', Chassi is referred to Eleanor Costello, a psychotherapist who helps her unveil her memories and grief. But the therapy takes on a greater role when Eleanor begins to face the death of her own husband, and her estrangement from her own daughter. In between their therapy sessions, aspiring actress Ioni St. John serves Chassi lattes at the local Cuppa Joe, and dreams of landing her first breakthrough role. In this graceful and poignant novel, the lives of these three women overlap as they search for their true selves and those they have lost.
