In 1941 Ansel Adams was hired by the United States Department of the Interior to photograph the country's national parks, resulting in a group of breathtaking images that includes the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Kings River Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, and Grand Teton National Park. One of the most prolific and admired landscape photographers of our time, Adams was also a dedicated environmentalist, and for more than fifty years he photographed our national parks and worked to preserve them.
