The task sheets and associated job performance requirements (JPRs) included in this task booklet are based on the 2020 Edition of NFPA 1021: Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. This resource will allow a supervising officer to track and evaluate the completion of assigned tasks by the candidate. The candidate’s progress in gaining the experience necessary to achieve competency in a future officer role will be properly documented with the use of this task booklet.When used in conjunction with the Fire Officer: Principles and Practice, Fourth Edition and Chief Officer: Principles and Practice, Third Edition curriculums, the Fire Officer I, II, III, & IV Task Booklet provides a comprehensive training solution for future fire officers that reinforces the knowledge and tracks the experience necessary to be successful in the field.Note: It is expected that specific guidelines for the development of JPR assignments, time limits to complete the assignments, and any prerequisites required to enter this phase of training would be developed by the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ). These items may vary based on the department's job/position expectations, local/state regulations, or the department's structure.
