POP BRASIL - VANGUARDA E FIGURAÇÃO, 1960-70

Celebrando os 60 anos das mostras Opinião 65 e Propostas 65 (referências para a arte contemporânea do país), Pop Brasil: vanguarda e nova figuração, 1960-70 apresenta, por meio de um numeroso conjunto de obras, os modos pelos quais os artistas do período reconfiguraram a prática artística em reação ao contexto político, social e de expansão da cultura de massa no país. A mostra também celebra os 10 anos de comodato da Coleção Roger Wright e o importante acervo de obras dos anos 1960 e 1970 conservado pela Pinacoteca de São Paulo. Esta publicação, por sua vez, é composta de um vasto caderno de imagens, cinco ensaios inéditos e uma seleção de textos históricos.



On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the exhibitions Opinião 65 [Opinion 65] and Propostas 65 [Proposals 65] (landmarks of contemporary art in Brazil), Pop Brazil: Avant-Garde and New Figuration, 1960-70 presents, through a large collection of works, the ways in which artists of the period reconfigured artistic practice in response to the political and social context and the expansion of mass culture in the country. The exhibition also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the loan of the Roger Wright Collection and the important collection of works from the 1960s and 1970s held by the Pinacoteca de São Paulo. This publication features an extensive collection of images, five previously unpublished essays, and o selection of historical texts.
