SENSE AND SENSIBILITY

After the death of their father leaves the Dashwood family in reduced financial circumstances, sisters Elinor and Marianne must navigate love, disappointment, and the expectations of Regency society. Practical and self-controlled Elinor tries to govern her emotions with reason, while passionate Marianne believes deeply in following the heart. Their contrasting approaches to love are tested by secrecy, heartbreak, misunderstandings, and difficult choices. With wit and insight, Jane Austen explores the tension between reason and emotion, as well as family, money, social convention, and romantic expectations.
