Just like The Kite Runner, this book, set within a grandiose framework, tells us of a love story and the history of a war. It draws the reader into the saga of Kurosh, na Iranian young man persecuted by the intolerance of his country s Islamic government. While Behruz, his childhood friend, is willing to give up his life in the name of Allah, so as to deserve the 72 virgins he was promised to be given in Paradise, Kurosh Dreams with freedom. Like the albatross, the migratory bird on the title, he crosses the ocean in his search for a new and better destiny. East and West, conicts and passions, suffering and severance, all bump into one another at the crossroads of this roman, based upon a poignant tale that moves us into tears while sometimes leading us to laugh.
